Description

Volume of history of Te Ati Awa in the 19th century written in 1899 by Te Watene Taungatara of Matarikoriko, Waitara at the request of W H Skinner and S Percy Smith, and copy in Smith's hand. Includes account of wars with Waikato and Ngapuhi at Taranaki, battle of Te Kuititanga, introduction of Christianity, migration of Te Rauparaha to Kapiti. A note says `All of this has been incorporated into [S P Smith's] "The Maori history of the Taranaki coast".
