According to Williams' diary notes for 14 March (page 45), the army moved to Pa Manutahi on that day, and on 17 March on page [50], "in the afternoon rode out with Betty, Brooke, Campbell and Sergt Phillips to a point a mile in advance of the outposts and got a sketch looking towards Mt Egmont".
