Description

Drawn on a published map, the annotations depict river discharge limits into the sea and seasonal limits of sport fishing areas. A handwritten reference key denotes river and smooth water limits of river mouths, major harbours and straits in blue. The red shaded area denotes extended and partially smooth limits of outer harbours, part of the Hauraki Gulf, Firth of Thames, the top of the Coromandel peninsula and around Great Barrier Island. Two semicircles outlined in green are not included in the reference key but probably denote extreme limits. One extends from Sail Rock around the Mercury and Alderman Islands to a point south of the Tairua River, while the second extends from a point south of Bream Tail around Little Barrier Island to the vicinity of Motuora Island. Green lines, drawn from Bream Tail eastwards and northwards, extend to the latitude of Wide Berth Island which denote an area of seasonal sports fishing, including dates.
