Description

Album includes a large section of British naval ships, some travelling in convoy, some camouflaged, with closeup views of armaments and naval personnel, taken by unidentified photographers during World War I. It appears that the creator of the album was serving on the SS Parattah. A section in the album covers a port-of-call by the Parattah to Nauru and the Loyalty Islands, showing scenes and aspects of life on the islands, including several related to the phosphate industry on Nauru. There are a number of images of a group on camels near the Spinx and pyramids in Egypt, dated 1919, followed by a section on the Yosemite area, California, with scenic views of mountains and valleys, and several showing the "largest tree in the world". The last section in the album covers the royal tour of HRH The Prince of Wales in 1920, in Sydney. Views of decorations in the city, crowd scenes, and night scenes of decorative lighting and fireworks.
