Description

John Sweeney Prendeville was appointed Headmaster of South Makara School on 4 Nov 1872.

The log book, kept by Prendeville for the period 1 Sep 1874 to 7 Jul 1879, notes daily events, subjects taught, inspectors' visits, tests held, attendance, weather conditions etc.

At back of volume is a list of fifteen pupils with their dates of birth.

Also included in the volume is a three page undated and unfinished essay titled "Who wrote Shakespeare's plays".
