Description

Programme for the Port Chalmers peace celebrations on Saturday 19 July and Monday 21 July 1919. Floral tributes were to be placed on soldiers' graves and school children were to assemble at Port Chalmers District High School, march down Ajax Road and Wickliffe Terrace and line up on George Street. The Mayoress Mrs J D Stevenson was to hoist the flag on the Municipal Building. A procession was to take place, and the route is listed. All traffic was to cease for 5 minutes at 12 o'clock and bells to ring for 5 minutes. Later would follow a children's lunch, sports and picture shows, highland dance entertainment. The SS "Westmoreland" would release a rocket, and the fire brigade would proceed to the Recreation ground to attend a fireworks display.

On the Monday there would be a social dance for the returned soldiers.

The last page shows a list of the men of the district, killed during the war.

The front cover shows a head and shoulders oval portrait of George V between the New Zealand and British flags.
