Comprises scrapbook compiled by Joseph Holmes and members of the Holmes family after the near wrecking of the `Strathnaver' on Barrett's Reef in Wellington Harbour and its rescue by the `Stormbird' 30 Aug 1874; includes photocopies of the original log kept by Lancelot Holmes, clippings from newspapers, copies of photographs, report of the salvage case against the `Strathnaver', and listings from the `Mercantile navy list and maritime directory' (1872). John Moffat has included contents and illustrations.
