Comprises maps compiled and collected by George Leslie Adkin and added to by Keyes mainly for a proposed history of Porirua.
Covers the wider Porirua Harbour area including Pukerua Bay, Titahi Bay, Paekakariki, Pauatahanui, Plimmerton, Mana, and Kapiti islands. The maps show early Maori place names and sites including pa and urupa; some European sites such as whaling stations and barracks as well as topographical features, soil deposits, bush lines, a submerged forest and peat beds. Several maps give old Maori tracks between the Hutt River and Porirua Harbour. Several maps show the view points and direction of material sketched by Angus, Brees, Mary Marshall and others and also for some photographs.
The collection includes some printed maps with pencil and ink annotations relating to early place names and settlement sites. One map of the coastline from Castlepoint to Mataikona River, Wairarapa with place names and topographical features.
