Description: This is a larger and more finished version of the image at C-003-001. Nine-part panorama forming a complete circle, of the view from the parsonage attached to St James Anglican Church Lower Hutt. Shows the parsonage with surrounding houses and farms, cleared land, roads, bush and hills in the background. There are men on horseback, a light horse-drawn trap, men ploughing with a horse-drawn plough, and a wagon drawn by two horses. Description: The 5th and 6th sections (of 8) showing the site of St John's College, Meadowbank, looking towards Manukau Harbour on the right, with a road in the foreground. A carriage drawn by a team of bullocks is on the left, then the barn and several haystacks, Mt Wellington in the centre background, the stables as an outbuilding to the tall half-timbered weaver's house on the right, and farmland beyond that. Description: Cadastral manuscript map of part of the Lansdowne Estate adjacent to the homestead. Numbered sections include acreages and boundary measurements. Pencilled annotations include names of French Street, Raglan Street, Robert Street now known as Roberts Road. Pencilled annotions also show an extension to the homestead, the site of W. H. Cruickshank's house, a creek, Nitz Bros. property, the site of the old hospital, Te Ore Ore Road. The second cadastral map is a sales map by W. B. Chennells, auctioneer, for the sale of four sections, each 95 acres of agricultural land, offered for sale by Messrs. McGregor Bros. of Lower Manaia. The area encompassed lies between the main Masterton to Gladstone Road and the Waingawa River. Includes seven numbered sections with the site of McGregor's Homestead. Good deep soil is noted, high land and the site of a pond. Includes notes on the agriculture of the area, mentioning the adjoining dairy farm of J. E. Pond. No scale is given. This sales notice refers to the Times, Masterton, N.Z. The third map is a sales map by Langley Shaw, land agent of Hamilton, or Samuel Vaile & Sons, 95 Queen Street, Auckland and Hamilton. Okauia, the 9000 acre property, adjoins Mata Mata, Maungawhero and Selwyn Estates and is situated near Mata Mata and Hinuera railway stations. 'B' Portion No. 1 Block is subdivided into five farms for private sale. The farms, encompassed by the Waihou or Thames River, Okoroira River and the road to Tauranga, include acreages and boundary measurements. Several roads run through the farms, named and give directions to Mata Mata, Okoroire and Hinuera, Te Aroha, Tauranga. The Waiomau Stream is marked. Each farm includes a description of the terrain, i.e. flat country, bush, low hills. One section of 200 acres is owned by Bates. A printed note, mounted to the right of the map, gives information about the state of the land, prices per acre and term deposits, also the adjoining Mangawhero Estate recently purchased by the Government to be subdivided for close settlement. Adjacent to Okauia is McGuire's property, described as grass land with pine trees, also Heaney's property described as grass land, and the Selwyn Estate. Scale [1:31 680] The locality plan shows the location of 'B' Portion of Okouia No. 1 Block. 'A' Portion of Okouia No. 1 is shown and Okouia No. 4. The area is encompassed by the Waihou or Thames River and the railway line from Walton to Oxford, including named railway stations. The Mangawhero Stream and the Maungawhero Estate are named.
