Who this meeting is for

Staff who are new to a role within the school library, such as:

• school librarians

• library assistants

• teachers with library responsibility

• anyone providing school library services to students and staff.

What we'll be doing

In this meeting, we'll:

• show you how to search for great books to read aloud, books in world languages, and dyslexia-friendly books

• share ideas for celebrating reading with your school community

• chat about how you can connect parents and whānau with what's happening in your library.

Joining a meeting has instructions if you're new to Zoom.

You may also want to join the meeting a few minutes early (from 3:15pm) to check your tech — make sure your microphone, speakers, and webcam are ready to go.

Prepare to share

At our last meeting we talked about some actions for you to follow up on:

• looking at your library’s guiding documents

• getting book recommendations and making a buying plan, and

• thinking about useful and fun tasks for your student librarians.

We'd love to hear about your progress with any of these! If you’ve got a story to share or a photo or two you’d like to show everyone, please email them to miriam.tuohy@dia.govt.nz by 5pm Friday 25 June.
