Description: Dance being performed by some hundred Fijians, bearing a variety of clubs, while in the centre of the gathering a Fijian "clown" performs, watched by American sailors, in Fijian village, surrounded by coconut palms and one banana palm, with tall hills in background. The dance was held in honour of the United States Exploring Expedition at Levuka. This performance took place in 1840.
