Description: Diary kept by Morris aboard the `City of Dunedin' on its voyage from London to Port Chalmers. It includes some entries by his wife Marina (`Min') These are written in the original diary in pencil and shown in transcript in italics. Morris and his family which comprised his wife, six children and servant, travelled in the chief cabin. The account describes daily shipboard life on the vessel, the progress of the ship, weather conditions and storms. He recounts the marine and bird life, comments on fellow passengers and crew (including Mr Cooper who became insane during the latter part of the voyage and the Captain's wife who suffered from sun blindness), the passing of other ships and sailing off the coast of South America, and the children's activities.
