Description: Accompanying note from cartoonist states 'The loss of so many lives off the coast of Lampedusa (Italy) is a tradegy. But the greater mystery is why Africa is haemorrhaging so many people year after year after year'. Cartoons shows a ship on fire with people jumping overboard to save themselves. There are people in the water in distress.The ship is named 'Africa'. To the right is smaller ship named 'Italy'. 'Italy' says 'Every year there's more people in the water.' and 'And that ship is always on fire' In the distance is the coastal town of Lambedusa. Context: refers to event on 3 October where a boat originating from Libya carrying migrants caught fire and sank off the coast of the island of Lambedusa in Italy, resulting in the death toll of approximately 360 people.
