Description: An original hand drawn cartoon by cartoonist Eric Heath, possibly circa 1950-1969. The cartoon depicts a man in front of a customs officer. The man is smiling and floating in the air, looking down behind himself, while sweat drops surrounds his face. His coat is full, and feathers and eggs are falling out below him. Two customs officers look through his luggage marked 'WELLINGTON'. Above their heads are three signs: "Bird smuggling into NZ on the Increase", "Customs" and "Air New Zealand". Fellow passengers watch on. The caption reads: "What! Me smuggle birds, officer". Title supplied by Library. Inscriptions: Recto - bottom left - "ERIC HEATH" Quantity: 1 cartoon(s). Physical Description: Original cartoon drawn with pencil, black ink and black crayon. Provenance: Original cartoon was framed with name on the back of the artwork proposed to belong to the subject of the cartoon. For privacy reasons this name was not retained. Nor was the frame.

Description: Colour transparency slides of New Zealand scenes, taken ca mid to late 1950s and 1960s by Peter Vaizey Conley. Chiefly views of mountains in the North Island, including Mount (Egmont) Taranaki, Mount Ruapehu, and Mount Ngauruhoe and the exterior of a lodge at one of these locations. There are also several of mountain ranges, probably in the South Island. This set also contains: Miscellaneous images, including an unidentified woman leaning on a car at an airport, and an unidentified man standing in front of house, which is being transported on the back of a truck. Description: Colour transparency slides of North Island scenes, ca mid to late 1950s and 1960s by Peter Vaizey Conley. Many are unidentified but the photographer has described this set as 'Picton to Days Bay', 'Muritai [Road, Lower Hutt?] to Wellington Airport', 'Hamilton to Ngaruawahia', 'Waihi Gorge to Tauranga',' Whakatane to Rotorua', 'Russell to Bay of Islands', 'Wairoa', and 'North Auckland to Ohope'. Contains: Views of Waipoua Forest, Northland Region, showing kauri trees and signage for Tane Mahuta, a giant kauri tree. Two views of airports, one is a grass airstrip, the other is probably Wellington Airport. Miscellaneous images include farmland near Wairoa, a general view of Rotorua, two unidentified river bridges, and a small dog on a stone pedestal. Photographs are chiefly taken by unidentified photographers and while most photographs are taken in unindentified locations, some have been taken in Paraparaumu, Rangiroa, Niue and Penrhyn. Includes photographs of a Puss Moth 2K AJN and photographs that depict the opening of the Niue airfield. Contains a selection of aerial shots of unidentified airstrips. Includes photographs of a Mount Cook aircraft in the snow with Captain John Ford all pictured.
