Description: Photograph taken by Frank J. Denton at Putney, London, 10 August, 1918. Shows the New Zealand rowing eight from Codford military camp. The team can be seen in their boat alongside the Thames riverbank, the rowers wear a New Zealand crest on their tops. The print is mounted on board with hand painted inscriptions. Inscriptions at the top of the mount read: "N.Z. [New Zealand] Representative Eight 1918, taken at Putney, England. Winners of Intercolonial Eights at Putney 10-8-18, International Eights at Reading 21-9-18, Senior Eights at Putney 28-9-18". Inscriptions at the bottom of the mount list names of the rowers: "G.A. Wilson (Bow), Wanganui; T. Goldie (2), Auckland; R. Forrester (3), Invercargill; R.E. Fitzer (4), Ch. Ch, [Christchurch]; D.C. Hadfield (5), Auckland; W.G Coombes (6), Wanganui; C.R. Moore (7), Gisborne; C.A. Healey (Str.), Wanganui; A.H.Trussell (Cox), Wanganui". Photographer's label on the reverse reads: "Frank J. Denton, Photographer (Gold Medalist); By special appointment to his excellency Lord Islington, P. C. [Privy Council], K.C.M.G. [Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George], D.S.O. [Distinguished Service Order]; Wanganui. Pictures framed to order". Donors are the grandchildren of Robert Forrester, who was on the team and originally framed the photograph.
