[Richmond, James Crowe] 1822-1898 :[View of Waimea from above Nelson. 1869?]

Date: 1869

By: Richmond, James Crowe, 1822-1898; Atkinson, Dorothy Alison, 1892-1986

Reference: A-245-020

Description: View from bush-clad hills towards a bay and river mouth with hills and mountains beyond. Probably a view looking west over the Waimea inlet towards Rabbit Island, Bell's Island and Best's Island, with the Arthur Range in the distance from the hills above Stoke, Nelson On acquisition, this watercolour was titled by the Library 'Mouth and lagoon, Wairau River, 1869?]. However the topography is not correct for a view looking north past the Wairau River mouth. It appears more likely to be a view looking west from above Nelson across Waimea and towards the mountains Other Titles - [Mouth and lagoon, Wairau River. Former title] Quantity: 1 watercolour(s). Physical Description: Watercolour, 240 x 350 mm
