Description: The papers consist of: Application form submitted by Walter Dalziel; brief history of the farm and family; marriage certificate for Christopher Dalziel and Mary Anne Wighton, 1866; photographs (see below). The original owner of the land at Tuapeka West (later known as Braewick farm) was Christopher Dalziel who bought 100 acres in 1874. In the 1890s a further 630 acres were acquired. In 2005 the property was owned by Walter Dalziel, with his son Hamish being actively involved in the farm. Description: An illustrated record compiled by Robert Falconer for his wife Ann of his visit to Scotland and the Shetland Islands, 14 Sep 1903-1904. Ann was born at Lerwick, Shetland in 1846 and came to New Zealand the year before she married in 1870. The journal contains numerous photographs of family and friends, postcards, pictures, maps of Scotland and Shetland; in particular postcards of Edinburgh and Lerwick as well as other places on Shetland. Falconer has copied into the journal a tree showing the descendants of Bruce of Sumburgh from 1572 copied from public and private records. Also included (in back pocket of original volume) are several letters addressed to Alex Falconer from various correspondents, 1899-1904; book of panoramic views of Edinburgh taken from the tower of the North British Station Hotel, undated.
