Description: Cadastral map, with topographic features, of the Hutt River valley from an area north of the Stokes Valley bridge to the harbour. Includes the road which runs parallel to the river. High Street, Victoria Street, Railway Avenue, and Hutt Road are named. The settlements of Richmond, Aglionby and Britannia are named. Includes numbered sections with owners' names. Clifford, Molesworth, Taine, Park, Child, Alzdorf, Hanson, Stokes, Dr. Evans, Riddiford, Dr. Dorset, Swainson, Barton, Compton, Captain Daniell, Colonel Wakefield, Burcham, Bidwill. Description: Drawn on a base cadastral map of the Lower Hutt industrial area, bounded by the Waiwhetu Stream and the Hutt River, the annotations show sections sold (in red) and sections open for selection (in green). The sections, numbered with acreages, are bounded by Bell, Gracefield, Park and Seaview roads, and the railway runs through the area. Sections are marked as sold to: Wm Cable & Co., Hume Pipe Coy., Vacuum Oil Coy., Texas Oil Co., Schweppes, RA Armstrong, Millars West Aust. Hardwoods Ltd., WA Cairns, Wellington Concrete Pipe Co., CH Morley. Pencil annotations of further sales include the names Ford Coy., Winstones, New Zealand government, Cable & Co. Several sections are stamped 'sold' and pencilled notes are scattered over the map. The annotations also show watermains and sewers, including the septic tanks and pumping station on the boundary of the Waiwhetu Pa and cemetery. Unpublished base map: Industrial area Hutt Valley settlement [s.d]. Map has been mended with brown paper and stamp ends. Map stamped Thompson & East Ltd. Description: River in the foreground, a broad field with cows grazing beyond, with trees, a church and other buildings in the background and hills in the distance. The title appears to be incorrect. There is no "All Saints Church" at Taita (or at Lower Hutt). The main church at Taita, Christ Church is much closer to the hill than the church shown here, there is no large house beside it, its spire is at the opposite end of the roof when viewed from the river and the distance from the river is too small. The view may be of Lower Hutt and a different church. The nearest All Saints Church was a Methodist one at Belmont. Description: Cadastral map showing two Native (Maori) reserves in Wellington. The first is in Lowry Bay, and shows three sections, numbered 1, 3 and 4, which have two roads running through them, one unnamed and one named from the Hutt to Wainuiomata. Section 1 and 3 are shaded. Part of section 9 is indicated, with the name Mr Fitzherbert. Measurements are indicated in chains. The second Native (Maori) reserve states it is in Waiwetu (Waiwhetu), which is present day Seaview. It shows the mouth of the Hutt River and the Waiwhetu River, the Hutt race course, 11 acres and section 15, with the name Mr Wakefield. The name Waiwhetu refers to what is known on similar maps as the Waiwetu (Waiwhetu) Flat. It is present day Seaview, at the mouth of the Hutt River, and the Waiwhetu River (which may have been slightly diverted).
