Bushy Park Estate

Located in Kai Iwi, Wanganui. Farmed by Frank Moore, breeding Hereford cattle and racehorses, including a large protected area of native bush. Homestead designed by C T Natusch, and built for G Frank Moore in 1906 by Wanganui firm Russell and Bignell. Estate and homestead was gifted to the Royal Forest and Bird Protection Society (Forest and Bird) on Moore's death in 1962. In 1995 the management was handed to the Bushy Park Homestead and Forest Trust, but still remains under the auspices of Forest and Bird.

Description: A floor plan of a house with seven bedrooms, billiard room, smoking room, breakfast room, dining room, store, hall, pantry, larder, dairy, servants' entry, scullery, knife and boot room, bathroom, lavatory and washhouse. One plans states that it has been rescaled in 1982 to metric measures. No job number for these plans. Reference number reflects date of completion rather than job number. "When Frank Moore decided to build a new house he chose an elevated site off Rangitatau Road, with native bush as a backdrop ...
