Description: Four lists, for 6 April, 18 May, 8 June and 23rd June 1894, for boys in Standard Six, listing eight or nine boys and their marks, in order top to bottom. Herries Beattie is at the top of all these lists, sometimes with other boys being first equal. Other names include: Henry Lakeman, Edgar Watt, William McKenzie, Robert Tinsley, Welwyn Tinsley, Andrew Waters, Leslie Pyke, Edward McKechnie. The name of the headmaster, Jonathan Golding, is at the bottom of each sheet, together with a note that a pupil who gains a place on the list is deserving of some reward from his or her parents. Accompanied by envelope published by the Waimate Borough Council, addressed to J H Beattie, advertising Waimate - "Beautifully situated Waimate for business, health or holidays - the choicest of our inland towns". The last leaf advertises W McGruar & Co (draper) and Vitadatio the great herbal remedy, manufactured in Wellington but obtainable from J Duncan & Co Gore.
