Engineer and surveyor. For many years he was County Engineer to the Wairoa County, Hawke's Bay and had been resident in that district for 30 years at the time of his death in 1922. He was a foundation member of the NZ Institute of Surveyors. Name on map, `Plan of Hau Hau Road, Block VIII, Ongo' dated 1896. Description: Survey map of Hauhau Road (now called Vinegar Hill Road), in Block 7, Ongo Survey District (near Hunterville), from Manganoho Road (now called State Highway 1) south-eastwards to the Rangitikei River. Numbered blocks of neighbouring land are identified (Block 7, lots 5, 5a, 8 & 9), with lot 5 belonging to A G & R K Simpson and 5a belonging to Weston. A small bridge is shown. Blue pencil annotation: 'Get out at Hunterville', 'About 2 1/2 miles N W of Hunterville'. Pencil annotation: 'A R MacKay'. 'From Plan 97/27'. 'Traced & checked ERW 14.2.[18]96'.
