Description: Barney Magee, aged 14, having just ferried 4 cyclists and 4 cycles, across the Karamea River in a boat. The passengers are: Mr Ernest Pettit and his wife, in the back seat is her sister, Mrs Walter Batty and her child. In the background, extreme right, is the house where the Magee family lived. In the centre background is the house of Bob Johnson. The small building on the right is the stable where horses were kept. The punt, which Barney Magee and his father used for heavier loads, is visible at the water level. Photograph taken by Walter Batty circa 1920.
