Photographer in Auckland (owned Rembrandt Fine Art Studio, Karangahape Road, 1903-1906) and Wellington (1907-1916). Postcards published by Tanner (among others). Operated a photography studio Tibbutt Brothers with his brother circa 1901-1902. Also worked as a journalist in Wellington. Married Margarita Francisca; son Lee Tibbutt.

Described as having a serious affliction in 1915, and as an invalid due to paralysis for 14 years prior to his death, who for some of that time had lived in Victoria Hospital, Wellington.

Died at Wellington Hospital 1929 aged 59 years.

Cuttings include photographs of the 11th annual meeting of the Dominion Rifle Association at Trentham, with caption describing the images, including names, taken from the New Zealand Free Lance, Saturday March 30, 1912. Sir Joseph and Lady Ward attended. The conquest of the South Pole, showing Captain Amundsen and his party, article from March 27, 1912. The Tramway Strike in Wellington which was terminated on February 5th, 1912, Sir Joseph Ward as mediator. Description: Photographs of Seatoun, Wellington, taken circa 1906-1907 mainly by W F Tibbutt. Comprises view across Seatoun to Evans Bay (with street names and buildings identified with annotations), workers and a tram at the entrance to Seatoun Tunnel, and scenes of a garden party at the house of Herbert Pearson Rawson to mark the occasion of the first tram going through the Seatoun Tunnel. Guests at garden party include Mr and Mrs Crawford and the Mayor and Mayoress of Miramar. Five of the six prints are stamped on the reverse "W.F. Tibbutt photo Kilbirnie. Opposite Geisha Boat house Seatoun Road". All of the prints have inscriptions on the back reading "E. Brittain, Seatoun" and "J. W. Gibson, 33 Hector St, Seatoun". The group includes Ettie Rout who started the newspaper. Possibly Unity Conference delegates. In 1910 Ettie Rout set up the "Maoriland Worker" with the New Zealand Shearers Union, of which she was an honorary member, and edited it free of charge. But when the shearers joined the New Zealand Federation of Labour in 1911, the news paper was taken over by the Federation and she was replaced, having produced six issues.
