Wanganui Society of Arts and Crafts

The Wanganui Society had its beginnings in 1901 and became a corporate body in 1919. First annual exhibition was opened on 20 November 1901. The Society begun its permanent collection in 1901/2 by purchasing, for £13, Mr C. F. Goldie's picture 'Of Making Many Books there is No End'. The first issue of a lively newsletter was published in 1962.
