On the right a standing Maori warrior in a dogskin cloak, holding a tewhatewha, a patu tucked into his waistband. He has feathers in his hair and wears two whale-tooth ornaments and a third curved bone object around his neck. A palm tree in the background divides the two subjects Mounted on a backing board above Thornton's engraving A man of the Duke of York's Island ...1793 (A-111-061).
