Acted on behalf of the natives of the valley around Otaraia (Ruamahanga Valley), in effecting a reconciliation with Te Hapuku, ca 1846. (See Kemp's 1850 report on Wairarapa, quoted in Paul Goldstone's "Wairarapa" 1996, page 30). Rakaihikuroa was also a correspondent to Donald McLean and probably from Ngati Kahungunu.
