AnyQuestions is open from 1pm to 6pm weekdays and is staffed by friendly librarians from around New Zealand. We work with primary, intermediate and secondary students to answer any question they come up with. AnyQuestions works on any device with internet access and is free and easy to use.
Interaction between the student and librarian is through simple-to-use text-based online chat. Students can email a copy of the transcript to themselves so they have a record of the websites they visited.
Introducing students to AnyQuestions — classroom sessions
A good way to introduce AnyQuestions to students is to book a classroom session. These work by a teacher or student logging into AnyQuestions through one computer at an agreed time with the session shown on a data show (or something similar) so that the whole class can view the transaction. An AnyQuestions librarian then engages with the class, demonstrating how the service works and in the process introduces some key information literacy concepts.
Classroom sessions can be booked for any time of the day — it doesn't have to be during the normal AnyQuestions time slot of 1pm to 6pm. Class sessions work best when they are related to the inquiry topic the students are studying at the time.
Email us to arrange a classroom session and we'll get back in touch with you to confirm booking. Include:
- your school contact information
- details of your request, including the date and time you would like to book for
- the topic to be explored, and
- the year level of your students.
Answering popular questions — ManyAnswers
ManyAnswers lets you search for answers to popular questions or topics asked at AnyQuestions. ManyAnswers entries are not intended to provide answers, but rather to guide students to websites and other resources that help them to find the information themselves.
