Description

Two memoirs "Living on an island - Part one and two" where Zelda Roberts recalls her husband Clifford Robert's appointment to Niue Island as Resident Commissioner, their arrival at Niue, acclimatising to island life, its food culture and its highlights (the arrival of mail and supplies from offshore) and welcoming visitors to Niue. Zelda Roberts also describes how Niue passed its Constitution Bill via referendum, the appointment of Sir Robert Rex as Niue's first Premier, and lists the vice-regal dignitaries that attended Niue Constitution Day on 19th October 1974.

The hand drawn sketch map of the Resident Commissioner's residency is rendered in blue ink, and includes a numbered legend (1-20) of rooms and features within the house. The sketch map is entitled "The Residency - Niue Island".
