Description

Photographs, some probably taken by Lorna Rowland, to illustrate articles on New Zealand she wrote for the 'New Zealand Freelance' in the 1950s.

Photographs are numbered, although the sequence is not complete, and some are inscribed on the back. They include images taken on Stewart Island/Rakiura, Tia Island, and in the North and South Islands of people, landscapes, and buildings. Most of the images of people are in rural settings and include a group of men "wild goose hunting", two deerstalkers, Roy Traill on Stewart Island/Rakiura, and Tom Bragg on Tia Island with kelp drying for pōhā (kelp bags for food). Also includes a photograph of Lorna Rowland on board the 'Alert' (Harbour Defence Motor Launch), possibly at Dusky Sound.
