Black and white photographic prints documenting artifacts from Vanuatu, dated 1970, 1971, and 1973. Some prints have caption information inscribed verso. Depictions also include two bags from Solomon Islands.
Includes portrait captioned "Tessa Fowler, artifact dealer, with carved figure from Malekula Island, New Hebrides" and a copy stamped "used N.Z. Woman Magazein - Jul 1973".
Tessa Fowler, nee Franklin, first arrived in the New Hebrides, now Vanuatu, in 1958 to work as a British economist and ended up acting as an intermediary and agent for indegenous peoples sellings art objects to museums.
