Photocopies of diary from the period August 1916 to September 1917.
Comprises one page of biographical notes on Elsie Grey. Typescript partial transcription of letters in the form of a diary to December 1916, and in diary-form from December 1916 to 4 September 1917; also photocopies of the original manuscript diary.
Grey describes voyage to England, via Panama, work at No 3 New Zealand Hospital at Codford, and at No 1 New Zealand Stationary Hospital at Amiens, which was moved to Hazebrouck, the evacuation to a monastery at St Omer and part of a sightseeing tour of Scotland. The effects of Sling Camp on wounded soldiers is mentioned.
It is presumed, as per preliminary notes in the typescript, that Grey returned to France in the period after the diary ends, before eventually returning to New Zealand
