Large collection of multi-format materials.

Includes business records such as minutes, financial records, some business correspondence, and papers relating to shares; a large quantity of photographic prints and negatives of staff and stores, including albums of displays and one album of building renovations from the late 1980s; papers and photographs from the 100th, 130th and 150th anniversaries of the store and other papers relating to the history of the company and store, including original material donated by customers; original advertising art work; and ephemera mostly concerning advertising and store promotions. Also includes some curios including Kirkcaldie & Stains pennies and a model of the 'Kirkcaldie Rose'.

Many of the photographs of the store and staff date from the 1980s onward, as does much of the advertising artwork. There are few company or financial records from the 19th century, and few from the 1930s and 1940s, although there is a complete run of company minutes from 1900-1989.
