Description

Embossed Christmas card has a double front opening, the two sides coming together in a handshake between the hands of a woman and a man. The handshake is framed in an oval border of violets. The verse inside is by H M Burnside: "Here's a welcome to old Christmas, / While no warmer wish than mine, /Through the wintry air goes speeding, / To my friend of Auld Lang Syne!"

Exhibited in ‘Humble: the life of 100 small objects’, exhibition curated by Barbara Lyon, in the Turnbull Gallery, National Library of New Zealand, 27 August - 17 November 2017.
