Premier House (Wellington, N.Z.)

260 Tinakori Road, Wellington, the home of the Prime Minister. Cottage constructed in 1843. Main building built 1875. In earlier times it housed Joseph George Ward and family for 12 years from June 1900. Ward and his family called the house 'Awarua House'. In 1935 Labour Prime Minister Michael Joseph Savage refused to live there and it was converted into a dental clinic. The house was fully restored in 1990.
