Description

Contains letters sent by Robert William Hannah to his immediate family between May 1929 and January 1931. Letters are addressed to "My Dear Father", "Jim" or the whole family. Hannah discusses finding and decorating a house with Winifred, weather, family health, business matters, international trade conditions, British politics and politicians (Stanley Baldwin, Winston Churchill, Neville Chamberlain, Lord Bledisloe, Ramsay MacDonald), and mutual acquaintances (Captain Riddiford, May Gilmour, Fred Glover, Molly Plimmer). Also discusses a trip aboard the "R.M.M.S Aorangi". Subjects include the conditions and other passengers, including Sir Andrew Russell.
