Binding: Cardboard box containing seven star-fold books to represent the seven stars of Matariki. The outer of the box is covered with brown paper. The lid has a wooden onlay bearing the title "Matariki rises" and a small cat's eye, or kanohi pūpū shell affixed to the right side of the onlay, a gold paper onlay represents the moon. The inside base of the box is woven gold and brown paper with a loose piece of card bearing the text "We are spiralling into the dark, Matariki turns us to light". The star-fold books range in size from 25 mm to 75 mm, and are numbered; they are made variously of brown, black, taupe and gold paper. Book number one contains handwritten text in gold and silver ink.
