Images show scenes from the annual coronation hui held at Tūrangawaewae Marae, Ngaruawahia, taken in 1963 by Ans Westra. Unless otherwise stated all persons are unidentified. Two kuia dancing have been named at a later date by an unidentified attendee at the hui. They are Nana Rongo Kirkwood, of Onehunga, and Nana Mako Poutapu (frames 8 to 10). Also frame 12 shows a man named as Hone Maikuku, senior, with his young son Hone Maikuku, junior, standing behind him. Images show scenes of people attending the annual coronation celebrations and include, kuia greeting each other with a hongi, a man leaning on some decking and kuia dancing.
