Description

Tape one (OHT10-0634) features a dawn karanga (which begins at 3 minutes in to the recording) and Christian prayers (karakia) by Huirangi Waikerepuru and Henare Kingi, followed by himene (hymns). The opening discussion with announcers Te Hepara Brian Hemmingsen (Ngāi Tūhoe) and Henare Kingi (Ngā Puhi) looks at the use of the kupu (word) 'Pakeha'. Following this: Sid Mead welcomes listeners to the radio station; waiata; and a welcome from Henare Kingi.
