Recalls: First World War; travelling by car, Model T, on the Hokianga roads; pine tree planting; weekend trip to Dargaville by boat; Young Friends group; Depression; bible training; Young Friends' camps; gas lights lit with a taper; Australian visit and meeting Freda and marriage in 1940. People mentioned include: Josiah Haines of Paparoa; Dr Dukes; Humphrey Kemp; Lionel B Fletcher; Arthur and Margaret West; Montegue H Dyson and Dorothy Johnson.
Claire and Linley Gregory complete the interview at a later date and talk about School Committee; Wanganui Trust Board; counselling; arranged weddings; help with budgeting; involvement with Labour Party and 1974-1975 election; Christian Pacifist and Peace Foundation and Royal Oak School Committee.
