Betty Alice Plant born Abel Tasman Street, Wellington. Outlines family background - father was involved in the silk trade and was a Bible class leader / youth leader in Old St Pauls in 1906. Gives details of involvement with Girl Guides. Discusses employment as cost accountant with J J Niven, a big engineering firm.
Backgrounds involvement in Netball. Recalls 1975 World Tournament, when New Zealand played same game as Australia. Gives details of differences between the two games. Recalls playing for the `Tuis', with reference to Rita and Ngaire Ogorman and Annie Calder. Captained the Third Test Team in 1948. Describes the uniform. Was on the New Zealand Netball Association (NZNA) from 1969 to 1979 and became International Treasurer in 1971. Personalities mentioned include: Julia Murray; Oonah Murray; Mary Sullivan; Jean McManon (Kia Ora); Bev Avery; Myrtle Craddock; Mary White; Marjorie Jenden; Joyce McCann and Shirley Smith. Recalls being awarded a Wellington Service award and the NZ Service Award in 1979.
Talks about involvement with Old St Pauls (Cathedral) and campaign to save it. Was curator for 10 years and gives details of duties.
