Commentary from the cartoonist reads "Labour pulled back its campaigning in the Northland by-election, when it realised it would be a distant third, but Winston Peters said he owes them nothing."
Three cartoons, all depicting Winston Peters carrying scissors, with a red tie around his neck leading out of the frame. ‘Closer ties1’ is entitled ‘Labour wants to forge closer ties’. 'Closer ties2’ is entitled ‘Closer ties’. ‘Closer ties3’ has the word ‘Labour’ written on the tie, and Peters saying, ‘It wasn’t a tie… I won!’
