Tomoana, Akenihi Patoka, -1908

A chieftainess of Ngai Te Rangiita, Ngati Turahi, Ngati Kahungunu, Ngai Te Whatuiapiti and Ngati Tuwharetoa descent. She married the chief Henare Tomoana in 1852. She was a political secretary, land advocate and women's suffrage advocate. They had one surviving child Paraire Henare Tomoana, who was a sportsman, composer and newspaper publisher.
