Seated three-quarter portrait of Sarah Selwyn, nee Richardson, the wife of Bishop George Augustus Selwyn, of Auckland, then Lichfield. She appears as a relatively young woman, in her thirties. Her arms are folded in her lap; she gazes slightly down and to her right. Behind her is an English country scene
