Description

Collection comprises photographs related to Lucy Taylor, a sports mistress at Wellington Girls College who emigrated from England to New Zealand after World War One.

- Images that relate to Wellington Girls College are taken by E T Robson and unidentified photographers between circa 1920s to 1940s. They chiefly feature annual dance dramas directed by Taylor. Also includes other school events and group portraits of students.

- Travel postcards are taken by a range of photographers. Scenes of France, Australia, Africa, Mediterranean and Ceylon are taken between 1900 and 1910.

- Also includes an album of unidentified portraits taken by English photographers circa 1870s to 1880s, an album of unidentified cartes-de-visite taken by English photographers circa 1870s to 1890s, and three studio portraits of Lucy Taylor circa 1910 to 1940s, one taken by P H Jauncey.

Lucy Taylor was an English woman who came to New Zealand after World War I. During the 1920s and 1930s she was sports mistress at Wellington Girls College and produced annual dance dramas performed by the students.
