Description

Panoramic view of a single-storeyed wooden homestead, iron roof, long verandahs with a bay centre right. French doors onto the verandahs. Wisteria in flower, other climbers including honeysuckle and roses. Large flat lawn in foreground. Rhododendrons far left and right. Tall firs in background with large stands of a variety of trees. Inscriptions: Marginal notes on negative - Mrs. W.F. Hamilton. Ashwick Station. Fairlie. 2 oils. Red roof, red facings, mauve wisteria on verandah. Cream roses in creeper in centre of house. Mixture color [sic] honeysuckly [i.e. honeysuckle] on left of verandah, also rose tree in centre of house. Dark furs [i.e. firs] at background. Poplars, willows, back of house. Between weather guage a large tree on left is a coffin beech [i.e. copper beech], beetroot color. On extreme right under birch tree are pink and white rhodondendron [i.e. rhododendron] trees (2). On extreme right of verandah is a lilac tree
