Description
Shows David Shearer, Leader of the Labour Party/Leader of the Opposition, and Prime Minister John Key, both surrounded by scaffolding. Both leaders have black eyes and a number of injuries. Shearer says, 'New strengthening code for party leaders, eh John?' and Key responds, 'Absolutely, Dave!' Refers to new plans for earthquake strengthening in response to the Canterbury earthquakes. Shearer recently faced a challenge by Labour Party rival David Cunliffe, and Key has faced opposition and been heavily criticised for a number of ongoing issues, such as child poverty, asset sales, breaches of privacy and information leaks in government departments, offensive public statements, and problems at the Ministry of Education.
