Evans, Malcolm Paul, 1945- :'I'm starting to doubt Israel's commitment to a settlement!' 4 April 2012
- Fairfax Media Limited (Firm)
The top panel shows President Obama shouting at Israel's Prime Minister Netanyahu accusing him of lack of commitment to a settlement. Netanyahu denies the accusation and points at several places on a map in which they are committed to settlements. Context: Relates to the White House meeting in March 2012 between Netanyahu and Obama at which Obama was expected to press the Israeli leader to stall any military action against Iran until sanctions have had an opportunity to persuade Tehran to open up its nuclear programme. Obama's failure to persuade Netanyahu to halt the construction of Jewish settlements in the West Bank is a major obstacle to serious peace talks with the Palestinians. (Guardian 5 March 2012)
