Main part of the diary covers the period 1915-1919 with intermittent brief entries after this date. Mildred left with a group of 79 nurses from Wellington, 11 July 1915 bound for Egypt where she served in a hospital in Cairo. In early June 1916 she left Egypt for England where she was stationed at Brockenhurst Hospital. In March 1919 she sailed back to New Zealand then returned to England again arriving in Oct 1919
