John and Harriet Steel emigrated from Kent to New Zealand on the `Gertrude' which departed Chatham Docks Feb 1868 and arrived at Wellington 3 Jun 1868. They left Wellington for the Hawkes Bay, arriving in Napier on 16 Jun 1868.
