The bird has dull green plummage on its back and tail and upper part of the wings. The underbelly is bright blue. The wings are grey and the short tail feathers are tipped with grey. There is a white stripe extending from the bird's straight bill running below the eye to the wings. A scale feathers of the pronounced crest are green.
